Mangaluru: In a brazen attempt, cattle thieves tried to steal cows by injecting them with intoxicating substances in Sampaje village, Dakshina Kannada district. The incident, which was captured on CCTV camera, showcases the alertness of a resident and his dogs that ultimately thwarted the crime.
According to reports, the miscreants targeted cows that were resting on the roadside. They allegedly injected the animals with an unknown substance to render them unconscious, making them easier to steal. However, their plan was disrupted by the loud barking of dogs from a nearby house.
Anwar, the homeowner alerted by the commotion, rushed outside to find the thieves attempting to load the drugged cattle into a Scorpio vehicle. Upon seeing Anwar and hearing his shouts, the miscreants abandoned the cattle and fled the scene.
The CCTV footage reportedly captures the entire incident, from the thieves injecting the cows to their attempted escape. Police have taken possession of the footage and are currently investigating the case. The cattle were found remain unharmed.
