Mangaluru: In a significant drug bust, the City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested a 50-year-old man in the Lalbagh area for allegedly trafficking the banned drug MDMA. Acting on specific intelligence, officials tracked a two-wheeler suspected of transporting the drug and apprehended the accused.

The arrested has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Alantadka, a resident of Alantadka House, Manikkara Post, Peruvaje village in Sullia. Investigations revealed that Ashraf had procured the contraband from a contact in Delhi and received it via courier in Sullia. He then transported the substance to Mangaluru on a Honda Activa with the intention of selling it to the public, including students.

The police seized 11 grams of MDMA, a mobile phone, and a scooter, with the total seizure valued at Rs 1.6 lakh. A case has been registered at Barke police station.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, with key efforts by inspector Rafeeq K M, PSI Sudeep M V, Sharannappa Bhandari, ASI Mohan K V, and team members Ram and other CCB staff.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug networks operating in and around the city, especially those targeting youth.
