Mangaluru— The St Aloysius Higher Primary School Alumni Association, in collaboration with Chess Hive, successfully hosted ‘CHESS-A-THON 2025’, a regional rapid chess tournament held on June 29 at St Aloysius Higher Primary School, Mangaluru. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 300 young chess players across Dakshina Kannada and beyond.

The tournament featured six categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U16, and Alumni. Conducted in rapid format under Swiss-system rules, each category had 5–7 intense rounds. The top five in each group received cash awards, trophies, and certificates, while all participants were recognized with certificates of participation.

A team of certified arbiters including Denzil Cutinha, Subodh Kumar, SNA Nayana Kumar, NA Rahul, and Soundarya UK, led by Chief Arbiter FA Sakshath UK, ensured smooth conduct of the matches.

A special attraction was the clock simultaneous exhibition (SIMUL) by International Master Viani D’Cunha, who played against 12 players at once, captivating the audience with his strategy and composure.

Philanthropist Micheal D’Souza inaugurated the event, while Venkatesh Pai, Executive Director, Bharath Group of Companies, graced the valedictory ceremony.
