The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Centre of Excellence for Employment and Livelihood (CII CEL) will organise a two-day Business Excellence Workshop for micro and small enterprises from February 18 in the city. The Mangaluru Entrepreneurs Development Forum will also be launched during the programme.

The workshop builds on the first edition held in Mangaluru in 2025 and forms part of the Micro Business Excellence initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship and local economic development.

Focus on strengthening micro enterprises

Natraj Hegde, Chairman, CII Mangaluru, and Managing Director of SN Cryogenics Pvt Ltd, said Dakshina Kannada district has over 18,500 registered MSMEs, with nearly 99 per cent categorised as micro enterprises.

These units operate across sectors such as food processing, marine products, petrochemicals and allied industries, coir, biotechnology and innovation, manufacturing and engineering, as well as logistics and services.

He urged micro and small entrepreneurs to actively participate in the workshop to connect, learn and expand their business potential.

Prakash Rao, Past Chairman, CII Mangaluru, and Director of Kalbavi Cashews, said the CII CEL Micro Business Excellence initiative is currently active in seven states and supports more than 2,000 micro enterprises nationwide. The launch of the Entrepreneurs Development Forum is expected to deepen local engagement and foster collaborative growth.

Comprehensive capacity building

The two-day workshop will focus on key business aspects including profit and loss management, risk assessment, balance sheet analysis, sales strategies, cash flow optimisation and marketing techniques.

Participants enrolling in the forum will receive one year of complimentary handholding support, covering capacity building, mentorship and facilitation for market linkages.

Organisers expressed confidence that the initiative will empower micro enterprises in coastal Karnataka, enabling them to scale operations and contribute more robustly to the regional economy.
