On the night of August 5, a city bus conductor, Mohammed Iqbal, was robbed while heading home near Harekala. Iqbal, a conductor for Sri Kateel Bus number 55, which operates between State Bank and Pavoor, had left the bus early to visit a local shop. After making his purchases, he was making his way home using his mobile phone’s torch for light when two assailants approached him.
The robbers grabbed Iqbal from behind, covered his mouth with a cloth, and forcibly took his purse containing Rs 13,000, which he had earned that day. Despite Iqbal’s cries for help, the robbers managed to escape the scene.
Upon hearing the commotion, locals and Iqbal’s family rushed to his aid and transported him to Natekal Kanachur Hospital. The Konaje police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the robbers might be connected to two young men who had a prior argument with Iqbal on the bus.
The Konaje police are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.
