Mangaluru: City Mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur has clarified that only 10 street vendors within the city limits have received identity cards. The remaining vendors were unable to obtain cards because they did not submit affidavits agreeing to the 18 conditions set by the City Corporation.
Addressing concerns raised by the Street Vendors Association about alleged injustice, Mayor Shetty Kannur dismissed these claims as unfounded. He emphasized that the City Corporation has made efforts to support street vendors by preparing to designate specific areas for them and developing a food street system through tenders.
The Mayor also confirmed that Operation Tiger, which focuses on regulating street vendors, will continue. This initiative is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to manage street vending while balancing public interests and vendor needs.
For more updates on this issue and future developments, residents are encouraged to stay informed through official City Corporation communications.
