Uppinangady: In a sorrowful incident, 13-year-old Shravan, a Class 7 student from a private school in Uppinangady, ended his life on the night of February 18.
The young boy, son of Dombayya Gowda from Tannirupanta village in Beltangady taluk, was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside his home. Reports suggest that after having dinner with his mother, which included a chicken dish prepared by his aunt, he waited for her to fall asleep before taking the drastic step. Notably, he had set aside some of the meal for the next day and collected flower buds for morning prayers.
Shravan was known as a bright and friendly student, and no apparent reason for his suicide has been identified. He is survived by his parents and a sister.
In his memory, his school organized a silent prayer gathering as a tribute.
