The coastal belt has witnessed a notable drop in early morning temperatures lately, coupled with varying daytime heat levels.
Last year, seasonal patterns shifted due to extended rains following the monsoon. The shorter post-monsoon phase left the topsoil drier than usual, leading to an early onset of summer that lingered unusually long.
In recent days, the maximum temperatures in the region have shown considerable variation. On Thursday, Panambur registered a peak temperature of 34.5°C. Between November 22 and 28, the highs recorded at Panambur were 32.2°C, 34.6°C, 33.9°C, 33.3°C, 33.8°C, 32.4°C, and 33.3°C, respectively. Officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predict that temperatures are likely to drop further in the coming days.
The IMD has also indicated a chance of rain in some parts of the coastal areas on December 1 and 2, adding to the region’s unpredictable weather patterns.
The interplay of temperature fluctuations and early winter-like chill could signal a shift in seasonal behavior, keeping weather watchers on alert.
