Mangaluru – The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), based in Hyderabad, has sounded an alert for high sea waves along the coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada.
As per the forecast, wave heights ranging between 4.3 to 4.6 meters are expected along the shoreline from Majali to Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district. These conditions are predicted to last until 8:30 PM on Tuesday.
In Udupi district, coastal regions stretching from Byndoor to Kaup may witness waves reaching 4.1 to 4.4 meters during the same time frame.
Similarly, the coastline between Mulky and Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district is expected to see wave heights ranging from 3.9 to 4.3 meters.
Authorities have strongly advised against the movement of small fishing boats and urged the public to avoid all forms of recreational activity near the shoreline during this period. Coastal residents and tourists are warned of potential shoreline erosion and sudden wave surges, which could pose serious safety risks.
Fisherfolk, boat operators, and beachgoers are urged to stay alert and comply with safety advisories. Local disaster management teams have been put on standby in vulnerable areas.
Residents living close to the shore should remain cautious and monitor updates from official sources.
