KPCC working president and MLC Manjunath Bhandary has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to convene a focused meeting for the comprehensive development of Karnataka’s coastal districts. The letter comes ahead of the CM’s scheduled visit to Mangaluru on May 16.
Bhandary suggested the chief minister preside over a special session involving elected representatives, including MLAs and MPs from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, to deliberate on strategies for boosting the coastal region. He stressed the need for inclusive discussions covering tourism growth, industrial expansion, optimal use of natural resources, and job creation.
Welcoming Siddaramaiah’s upcoming visit, Bhandary noted that such a dialogue—if attended by business leaders, investors, and departmental officials—would strengthen public confidence and pave the way for tangible regional progress.
He highlighted that holistic development requires collaborative planning and representation from multiple sectors. Inviting key stakeholders, he argued, would ensure that the issues specific to the coastal belt are given due importance in policy and execution.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to inaugurate the new Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Padil during his Mangaluru visit. He will also launch a series of developmental initiatives within the Mangaluru constituency, currently represented by Assembly Speaker UT Khader.
A dedicated meeting on coastal development, Bhandary believes, could mark a transformative shift in state policy toward Karnataka’s shoreline districts.
