Mangaluru: The Canara Organisation for Development and Peace (CODP) organised an Education Aid Cheque Distribution Programme along with a civic awareness session on Karnataka Government welfare schemes at Mother Theresa Hall, CODP, Mangaluru.

The programme was organised under the auspices of the Commission for Labour and the Commission for Social Development of the Diocese of Mangalore. The event commenced at 10.30 am with the participation of student beneficiaries and their parents.

Awareness on government welfare schemes

Rev. Fr Vincent D’Souza, Director of CODP, presided over the programme and addressed the gathering.

In his keynote address, Fr Vincent provided detailed information about various welfare schemes introduced by the Karnataka Government. He highlighted how citizens, particularly students and families with limited financial resources, can access scholarships, financial assistance and other social welfare benefits.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain informed about government programmes and make use of available resources to support higher education and work towards sustainable livelihoods.

Education aid cheques distributed

Following the awareness session, Rev. Fr Vincent distributed education aid cheques to deserving and financially needy students from across the Diocese of Mangalore.

The assistance is intended to help ease the financial burden of tuition fees and other academic expenses faced by students pursuing school and higher education.

The initiative reflects CODP’s continued efforts to support education and promote opportunities for young people from financially disadvantaged families.

Beneficiaries express gratitude

The beneficiary students and their parents expressed their gratitude to CODP and the Diocese of Mangalore for their continued support towards education and social empowerment.

Staff members and representatives of CODP were also present and assisted in the smooth conduct of the programme.

Through initiatives such as education assistance and awareness programmes, CODP continues to encourage students and families to make use of available opportunities and work towards a more secure and sustainable future.
