KPCC Working President and MLC Manjunath Bhandari has called for sedition charges against the Madhya Pradesh BJP minister who allegedly made derogatory comments about Colonel Sophia Qureshi, a Karnataka native who bravely served in Operation Sindhur.

Addressing the press at the Dakshina Kannada District Congress office, Bhandari strongly condemned the BJP minister’s remarks, stating, “Colonel Sophia is a courageous daughter-in-law of Karnataka, willing to lay down her life for the nation. Targeting such a patriotic soldier exposes the regressive mindset of BJP leaders.”

He further demanded action against Sulibele Chakravarthy, commonly referred to as Emperor Sulibele, for delivering allegedly false and incendiary speeches concerning the India-Pakistan conflict. “Spokespersons who spread such provocative narratives about war should also face sedition charges,” Bhandari asserted.

Raising broader concerns, Bhandari questioned the lack of transparency regarding the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He urged Parliament to convene and present clear facts to the public. “Pakistan is claiming victory, and the US President says he halted the war. But as per the Simla Agreement, no third-party mediation is permitted. Are we now a pawn of the US?” he asked.

Referring to past criticism of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for speaking against the war, Bhandari challenged critics to respond now that international powers are claiming to influence peace talks.
