In a heart-stopping incident in Sarapadi Hanchikatte on May 14, a three-year-old child playing in the yard accidentally fell into a 30-foot-deep well. However, the swift action of a passing youth on a bike averted a tragedy as he fearlessly jumped into the well and rescued the child from drowning.

The child, identified as Abhishek (3), son of Nonaiah Naik, fell into the well while playing. Umesh Naik, a resident of Matadabettu, is the courageous youth who sprung into action to save the toddler.

The accident occurred when Abhishek climbed onto a net covering the well, which tore, leading to his fall. The child’s mother and sister, who were at home, rushed out upon hearing the commotion and were horrified to see the child drowning.

Responding to the mother’s cries for help, Umesh Naik, passing by on his bike, wasted no time and immediately descended into the well using an old rope. With the assistance of Abhishek’s father and two others, who arrived shortly after, the child was safely lifted from the well. Umesh, after ensuring the child’s safety, managed to climb out unscathed.

Nonaiah Naik expressed gratitude, believing Umesh’s timely intervention was a stroke of providence. Remarkably, the child emerged from the ordeal unharmed, thanks to Umesh’s selfless bravery.

The villagers are hailing Umesh Naik as a hero for his courageous and timely rescue, which saved the child’s life.
