Mangaluru: The International Summit CRIFO 2K25, themed “Forensic Spectrum: An Intersection of Technology and Crime Investigation”, concluded successfully at School of Social Work (Autonomous), Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru. Organised by the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the two-day summit saw active participation from experts, students, and professionals from across the country.

Day two sessions and events

The second day began with the grand finale of the quiz competition and paper presentation sessions, followed by the fourth technical session.

The first session, titled “Empowering Organizations with Smart Resource & Skill Ecosystems,” was delivered by Mr. Sai Krishna Domala, Managing Director, Virtual Protect Security Pvt. Ltd. He introduced the ‘Risk Jobs Portal,’ an innovative platform designed for student skill development and corporate job placements with a special focus on security-related roles. The portal offers training, internships, resume-building assistance, and job opportunities in the security sector.

The next session, “Transforming Fleet Security Through Intelligent Risk Management,” was presented by Mr. Thejas Abhishek, Team Lead – Security Operations, Virtual Protect Security. He demonstrated a vehicle tracking and monitoring system equipped with GPS, geo-fencing, and emergency response features, showcasing its effectiveness in risk prevention and security enhancement.

The final segment before the valedictory ceremony was a stress interview, testing the analytical and decision-making abilities of participants under pressure.

Valedictory ceremony

The valedictory ceremony marked the formal conclusion of CRIFO 2K25. The chief guest, Assoc. Prof. Vineetha K., former Registrar (Evaluation) and Head, UG Department of Social Work, School of Social Work, Mangaluru, addressed the gathering. She emphasised the importance of expanding forensic expertise in the legal system and commended the organising team for successfully executing an international-level summit. She also encouraged students to aspire towards innovation and excellence in forensic science and related fields.

Presiding officer’s address

The presiding officer, Dr. Jacinta D’Souza, former Principal of School of Social Work, extended her gratitude to the guests of honour, collaborators, and participants. She highlighted the significance of forensic science advancements for future generations and congratulated all winners. She paid tribute to the late Dr. Ashoka B, former Head of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science, for his contributions to the department’s growth.

Prize distribution and closing

Asst. Prof. Niketh P S, Faculty Convener of CRIFO 2K25, presented prizes to winners of various competitions held during the summit. SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru, bagged the overall championship trophy. The summit concluded with a short video presentation, capturing memorable moments from the two-day event.

The closing ceremony featured a welcome address by Asst. Prof. Gayathri K S, Faculty Coordinator – CRIFO 2K25, while Student Coordinator Ms. Vedhaashini S Gowda compered the event. Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head, Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science and IQAC Coordinator cum Program Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks. A total of 150 delegates participated, making CRIFO 2K25 a successful platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and exploring new horizons in forensic science and crime investigation technologies.
