Moodbidri: A cylinder explosion in a rented house near Mijar left three members of the same family seriously injured on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at around 6.30 am, causing panic in the locality.
The injured have been identified as Alva’s College watchman Shivaram, 31, his wife Ganga, 25, and their six-year-old son Adarsh. All three were inside the house when the cylinder reportedly exploded.
Explosion occurs early in morning
The incident took place at around 6.30 am at a rented house near Mijar. The sudden explosion reportedly caused a fire inside the house, leaving the family members with burn injuries.
Shivaram, who works as a watchman at Alva’s College, sustained severe burn injuries in the incident. His wife Ganga and their son Adarsh also suffered burn injuries in the explosion.
The loud sound of the blast is understood to have alerted people in the surrounding area, following which assistance was sought for the injured family.
Three family members injured
The explosion affected all three members of the family who were inside the house at the time.
Shivaram reportedly suffered the most serious injuries, while Ganga and Adarsh also sustained burns. The injured were subsequently shifted to a hospital for treatment.
