Mangaluru: A group of eight to nine masked dacoits raided the house of a PWD contractor in Ulaibettu on the outskirts of the city, fleeing with cash, gold jewellery, and the contractor’s vehicle on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 7:45 pm when the dacoits forcefully entered the contractor Padmanabham Kotiyan’s residence.
According to the complaint lodged with Mangaluru rural police, the dacoits threatened the family at knifepoint, tied them up with bedsheets, and thoroughly searched the house for valuables. They escaped with the stolen items, abandoning the vehicle a short distance away.
Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal confirmed that Padmanabham sustained a knife injury to his hand during the ordeal. A case has been registered, and police teams are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators.
