Mangaluru: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2026) of electoral rolls is progressing steadily across the Dakshina Kannada region, with election officials reporting that 35.95 per cent of the exercise has been completed through an extensive door-to-door campaign conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). As part of the ongoing revision process, BLOs have distributed 6,48,452 Enumeration Forms (EFs) to eligible voters, marking significant progress in updating the electoral database.
Door-to-door enumeration gathers pace
The ongoing revision exercise is aimed at ensuring that the electoral rolls remain accurate and up to date by verifying voter details and identifying any necessary corrections before the next electoral cycle. The Election Commission has directed Booth Level Officers to visit households personally, enabling voters to verify their information and submit updated details wherever required.
The door-to-door campaign forms a key part of the Special Intensive Revision, helping officials identify newly eligible voters, rectify inaccuracies and remove duplicate or ineligible entries from the electoral rolls.
Digitisation of forms underway
Alongside the physical distribution of enumeration forms, officials have initiated the digitisation process to streamline the revision exercise.
According to the latest figures, 13,287 enumeration forms have been digitised, accounting for 0.74 per cent of the total forms distributed so far. Authorities expect the pace of digitisation to increase as more completed forms are collected from voters.
Digitising the forms is expected to improve the efficiency of electoral roll preparation while minimising manual errors during data entry.
Constituency-wise progress
Among the Assembly constituencies, Mangaluru North has recorded the highest number of enumeration forms distributed at 91,340.
The constituency-wise distribution is as follows:
- Belthangady – 83,074 forms distributed, with 4,619 forms digitised
- Moodbidri – 76,998 forms distributed
- Mangaluru North – 91,340 forms distributed
- Mangaluru South – 83,868 forms distributed
- Mangalore – 82,114 forms distributed
- Bantwal – 80,068 forms distributed
- Puttur – 69,923 forms distributed
- Sullia – 81,067 forms distributed
Belthangady has also emerged as the leading constituency in terms of digitisation, reflecting steady progress in processing completed forms.
Exercise to conclude by July 29
The Special Intensive Revision is a crucial electoral exercise conducted periodically to maintain an accurate and updated voter list. The process enables eligible citizens to verify their personal details, request corrections and ensure their names are correctly included in the electoral rolls.
Officials have urged residents to cooperate with Booth Level Officers during the house-to-house visits and submit completed enumeration forms promptly. Public participation is expected to play a vital role in completing the exercise within the stipulated timeline.
The door-to-door enumeration and digitisation exercise is scheduled to be completed by July 29, after which the updated electoral rolls will undergo further processing before publication.
