Bantwal, August 20, 2026: A 40-year-old employee of a cement and iron dealership was allegedly robbed of Rs 8.52 lakh at sword-point by four unidentified men at Mulkaje Mada in Maninalkur village of Bantwal taluk on Thursday afternoon.

Gang intercepts employee on busy road

The victim, identified as Mayyadi (40), works for a cement and iron sales firm in the Kannur area of Mangaluru. According to the information available, he was returning on his motorcycle after collecting business cash from various shops.

At around 1 pm, while travelling from Kakkepadavu towards Panemangalore, Mayyadi reached Mulkaje Mada when four men travelling on two motorcycles reportedly blocked his path.

The gang allegedly brandished a sword and threatened him before snatching the cash he was carrying.

Rs 8.52 lakh stolen

The robbers fled from the spot with Rs 8,52,000 in cash after the assault and threat. The incident has raised concern as the robbery took place in broad daylight.

The exact identities of the accused and the motorcycles used in the crime have not yet been established.

Police launch manhunt

The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Bantwal Rural police station. After receiving information about the robbery, police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection.

The Bantwal Rural police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend the unidentified accused.

Police are investigating various angles and are expected to examine available leads to identify the suspects and establish their movements before and after the robbery.
