Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur announced that the fate of the Mangaluru City Corporation’s (MCC) wet well at Kethikal, threatened by a recent landslide, will be decided after consulting experts from NITK Surathkal. The landslide has put the wet well at risk, and no decision has been made yet by the MCC.
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP has convened a meeting with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), MCC, and NITK experts to discuss the Kethikal landslides. The construction of a retaining wall for the affected area will be decided in this meeting. Residents of 12 houses in Kethikal and four houses in Ballurgudde, Kannur, have been asked to vacate due to landslide threats.
Mayor Kannur also addressed a query regarding the bylaw for ward committees, stating that meetings have been held to address existing loopholes. The revised bylaw will soon be presented to the council for approval.
