Mangaluru/Bengaluru: South Western Railway (SWR) has announced special express train services connecting Bengaluru, coastal Karnataka and Goa to manage the additional passenger rush during the Deepavali festival. The special services, operating between Yeshwantpur and Madgaon and between Madgaon and Bengaluru Cantonment via Mangaluru Junction, are expected to provide additional travel options for passengers during the festive season.
The railway has scheduled one trip in each direction, with the services covering several important destinations across coastal Karnataka, the Western Ghats and Goa. The trains will connect major stations, including Hassan, Sakleshpura, Subrahmanya Road, Mangaluru, Udupi, Kundapura, Bhatkal, Karwar and Canacona.
Yeshwantpur–Madgaon special train on November 6
Train No. 06591 Yeshwantpur–Madgaon Express Special will depart from Yeshwantpur railway station in Bengaluru at 11.55 pm on Friday, November 6. It is scheduled to reach Madgaon in Goa at 6.10 pm on Saturday, November 7.
The service will provide an additional rail travel option for passengers from Bengaluru heading towards coastal Karnataka and Goa. Its route through Mangaluru Junction will benefit travellers from several towns and cities along the coastal belt.
Passengers travelling from Bengaluru towards Hassan, Sakleshpura, Subrahmanya Road, Mangaluru, Udupi and other coastal destinations can make use of the additional service. The train will also connect passengers to important locations in Uttara Kannada district before entering Goa.
Madgaon–Bengaluru Cantonment special on November 8
In the return direction, Train No. 06592 Madgaon–Bengaluru Cantonment Express Special will depart from Madgaon at 11 am on Sunday, November 8. It is scheduled to reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 5.20 am on Monday, November 9.
An important detail for passengers travelling on the return service is that the train will not stop at Yeshwantpur. Instead, it will halt at Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), Bengaluru, before proceeding to Bengaluru Cantonment, its final destination.
Passengers boarding the return service should therefore carefully check their boarding station and avoid confusing SMVT with Yeshwantpur. The different terminal arrangements are particularly important for those planning their onward journey within Bengaluru.

19-coach composition with AC, sleeper and general accommodation
South Western Railway has arranged a total of 19 coaches for the special train services. The composition includes air-conditioned coaches, Sleeper Class coaches and General Class coaches to accommodate passengers travelling under different categories.
The train will also have a second class luggage-cum-brake van and a dedicated Divyangjan coach for passengers with disabilities.
The additional coach arrangement is intended to cater to different passenger requirements during the festive period. With Deepavali travel generally witnessing increased demand, the special services are expected to offer some relief to passengers seeking reservations and alternative travel options between Bengaluru, coastal Karnataka and Goa.
Passengers advised to check station timings
Passengers planning to travel on these special trains should take note of the departure and arrival dates and timings. Since the services are scheduled for only one trip in each direction, travellers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
Those travelling on Train No. 06592 from Madgaon to Bengaluru should pay particular attention to the boarding arrangements, as the train will halt at SMVT Bengaluru and will not stop at Yeshwantpur.
Passengers can check station-wise arrival and departure timings through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the Indian Railways enquiry service. Checking the latest train information before departure will help passengers confirm their boarding stations and plan connections.
The Deepavali special services are expected to improve travel options between Bengaluru, the coastal districts of Karnataka and Goa during the festive rush. With stops at 22 intermediate stations and a 19-coach composition, the trains will provide additional connectivity for passengers travelling across the region.
