In a significant move to enhance cardiac care in Mangaluru, Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan has directed the immediate operationalization of the newly constructed catheterization (cath) lab at Wenlock District Hospital. The decision was made during a meeting of the Arogya Raksha Samiti held on Thursday.

The state-of-the-art cath lab, situated on the ground floor of the hospital’s new surgical block, is equipped with advanced medical infrastructure and staffed with specialists from Kasturba Medical College (KMC). This facility is poised to provide essential diagnostic and interventional cardiology services to the public.

Additionally, the construction of a new 35-bed dialysis ward at the hospital has been completed, with only minor finishing works pending. Darshan emphasized the need for timely completion of the hospital’s critical care block to further bolster healthcare services.

Addressing infrastructure concerns, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner to expedite the widening of the Wenlock Hospital-Milagres road to improve accessibility to the medical facility. He also mandated regular monitoring to ensure that medical staff adhere to their duties, thereby maintaining consistent patient care standards.
