Mangaluru: Members of cooperatives across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will hold a Dharma Jagruthi Yatre on September 14, condemning what they termed a conspiracy to defame Dharmasthala. The event will be led by South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank president Dr M N Rajendra Kumar.

Announcing the programme, SCDCC Bank director Shashikumar Rai said that over 1,500 cooperative organisations and nearly 3,000 vehicles would participate in the rally. He appealed to people from all communities and political affiliations to take part in the yatre.

The rally will commence from Ujire and culminate at Dharmasthala.

Rally against alleged conspirators

According to the organisers, the yatre is being held to send a strong message against those who attempted to defame the Dharmasthala temple. Cooperative members emphasised that their sector thrives on harmony and respect for cultural institutions, and therefore felt compelled to voice their opposition.

“Dharmasthala has contributed immensely to education, healthcare, and social welfare. To defame such a revered institution is unacceptable,” Rai said.

Unity across communities

The organisers highlighted that the Dharma Jagruthi Yatre is not limited to any single religious or political group. Instead, it is being positioned as a collective show of solidarity in defence of Dharmasthala’s reputation.

They expressed confidence that the participation of thousands of people would demonstrate the deep respect and attachment that cooperative organisations and the public at large hold for Dharmasthala.

Conclusion: Clear message of support for Dharmasthala

The Dharma Jagruthi Yatre, with participation from thousands of cooperative organisations, is expected to underline the community’s respect for Dharmasthala while condemning attempts to malign its image. By bringing together people from different walks of life, the organisers hope to reinforce the temple town’s legacy of service and harmony.
