Over 20,100 elderly individuals have benefitted from the ‘Monthly Assistance’ (Masashana) programme launched by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade and Hemavathi V Heggade. This initiative provides financial aid ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 per month to those facing extreme physical hardships due to age, illness, or disability. Volunteers also offer emotional support and monitor their well-being.

Understanding the need for mobility assistance, Veerendra Heggade introduced the Janamangala initiative, which provides free assistive devices such as wheelchairs, commode wheelchairs, water beds, walkers, crutches, and walking sticks. Volunteers guide beneficiaries in using these aids effectively.

In the 2024-25 period alone, approximately 4,500 individuals received free mobility equipment under Janamangala, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 32,000. These efforts have significantly enhanced the independence and confidence of specially-abled individuals.

“This initiative has transformed lives by enabling greater mobility and self-reliance,” said SKDRDP executive director Anil Kumar SS.
