Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada (DK) deputy commissioner’s office building was illuminated in pink on Sunday night to commemorate the completion of three years of the Karnataka government’s Gruha Lakshmi guarantee scheme.
The illumination was organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations as part of the state-level commemoration of the welfare scheme, which completed three years of implementation on August 30. The pink lighting was chosen as a symbolic representation of women’s pride and recognition of their role in strengthening families and communities.
Launched as one of the Karnataka government’s major guarantee schemes, Gruha Lakshmi provides Rs 2,000 every month to the woman head of an eligible family. The financial assistance is intended to support women’s economic independence and help them lead more self-reliant lives.
