Mangaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is scheduled to make an early-morning visit to the Mangaluru Fishing Harbour on Saturday, September 19, as part of the government’s focus on coastal development and fisheries-related issues.
According to a media invitation issued ahead of the visit, Shivakumar will reach the fishing harbour at around 6 am for a surprise inspection. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to assess the condition of the harbour and take stock of issues concerning fishing activities and facilities available at the important coastal hub.
The inspection comes shortly after the Karnataka Cabinet held its first-ever meeting in Mangaluru on Friday, September 18. The meeting was convened with a focus on development priorities and demands from the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

He also said the government would examine various demands raised by fishing community representatives, including financial support and assistance comparable to benefits available to agricultural communities.
