Mangaluru: Dr Jagadish Chandra, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Yenepoya Dental College, has formally assumed office as the President of the Indian Dental Association (IDA), Dakshina Kannada Branch.
The assumption of office ceremony was held on December 26 at AJ Grand Hotel, Bunts Hostel, Mangaluru, in the presence of senior members of the dental fraternity, academicians, and professional colleagues from across the district.

Strengthening professional excellence and service
The Indian Dental Association, Dakshina Kannada Branch, is regarded as one of the most active local units of the national body and has played a significant role in promoting continuing dental education, professional development, ethical dental practice, and community oral health awareness in the region.
Dr Jagadish Chandra has been associated with Yenepoya Dental College since 2003 and brings with him over three decades of academic and clinical experience. He has also been an active member of the Indian Dental Association for the past 25 years, contributing to both academic initiatives and professional programmes.
Vision for the tenure
Addressing the gathering, Dr Chandra expressed gratitude to his teachers, colleagues, and the IDA fraternity for the trust placed in him. He emphasised the need to strengthen academic activities, encourage greater participation of young dentists, foster professional unity, and expand community outreach programmes during his tenure as president.
Senior members and colleagues congratulated Dr Chandra on assuming office and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the IDA Dakshina Kannada Branch would continue to grow as a progressive and service-oriented professional body, contributing meaningfully to both the dental profession and public oral healthcare.
