Mangaluru: The CEN Crime Unit of Mangaluru City Police has registered a case against two individuals for alleged drug consumption in a public area.

The individuals were identified as Ameer Suhail, 29, residing in Bunder, and Fathima Juwa, 24, from Valencia. As per official sources, the incident occurred around midday on Tuesday.

Police Sub-Inspector Mohan, who was patrolling the area, received a tip-off around 12 pm. The report claimed that a man and a woman were seen acting under the influence of intoxicating substances near the Valencia bus stop. Their behavior was reportedly inappropriate and caused discomfort to passersby.

Responding promptly, PSI Mohan reached the site around 1 pm. Upon locating the pair, he questioned them. During the inquiry, both allegedly confessed to having consumed narcotic drugs.

They were immediately escorted to a nearby private hospital, where a medical examination was conducted. Test results later confirmed the presence of narcotic substances in their systems.

Following the confirmation, law enforcement officials booked the duo under Section 27B of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which deals with the use of illegal substances.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug-related offenses, particularly those occurring in public spaces and affecting community well-being.

The investigation is ongoing, and further action will follow based on procedural developments.
