Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP announced that a team of experts, including IIT professors, will visit the landslide-affected Kethikal area on the Mangaluru-Moodbidri stretch of the national highway next week. This team, which previously assessed landslide-hit Shirur in Ankola, Uttara Kannada district, will provide guidance to authorities on preventing further landslides.

On Monday, PWD Principal Secretary S. Selvakumar, accompanied by chief engineers from NH and NHAI, inspected the Kethikal site. The DC noted that the area has experienced water seepage for several years, now exacerbated by a recent landslide. Muhilan also visited the wet well and residential area in Kethikal on Sunday.

In addition to Kethikal, Selvakumar and other officials inspected several other locations affected by rainwater stagnation, including Nanthoor, Surathkal, and Thumbe. They also visited Kalladka, Mani, and Uppinangady, where the four-laning of NH-75 is ongoing. Furthermore, officials conducted an inspection of the landslide-affected area in Shiradi Ghat.

The visits aim to identify and implement necessary measures to prevent future landslides and ensure the safety and functionality of these critical roadways.
