Bantwal: Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady emphasized the importance of adopting allied agricultural activities along with traditional farming to boost farmers’ income. He was speaking at the Kisan Ghosti, training, and equipment distribution programme held at Ambedkar Bhavan, B C Road, on Thursday.

The event was organized by the agriculture department under the National Agricultural Extension Sub-Mission.

“In Dakshina Kannada, many small-scale farmers are taking up secondary occupations. Agriculture is the most fulfilling profession. My own journey as a farmer has led me to a peaceful and content life,” Naik shared.

BOODA president Baby Kundar called for promoting soil-specific farming practices, stressing that, “If agriculture thrives, so will nature and the nation.” He recommended that similar awareness programmes be extended to the gram panchayat level.

On this occasion, farmers recognized for excellence were presented with district and taluk-level Atma Shreshtha awards. ID cards were issued to Krishi Sakhis of Bantwal taluk.

Sessions included training on safe pesticide use, minimizing chemical residues in crops, and guidance on crop surveys for private landowners.
