Lancy Fernandes (68), brother of Father Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest of Kulshekar, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026. His passing has cast a pall of grief over the family and the Kelarai parish community, where he was widely known as a gentle, dignified and family-oriented person.
Remembered as a devoted family man
Lancy Fernandes was the loving husband of Maria Fernandes and a devoted father to Lloyd / Reena Fernandes, Lavina / Vivian Sequeira, and Loyston / Azita Fernandes. He was a cherished grandfather to Lenora and Lorraine Fernandes, with whom he shared a close and affectionate bond.
He was the brother of Fr Clifford Fernandes and of Flavy Rego, wife of the late Albert Rego. Family members recall Lancy as someone who valued relationships deeply, lived simply, and remained quietly supportive through all stages of life.
Funeral and final rites
The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10.30 am at St Anne Church, Kelarai. The mortal remains will be kept for viewing at the residence from 9.30 am to 10.00 am, enabling relatives, friends and parishioners to offer their final respects.
