Mangaluru: A gripping tale of heroism is sweeping across social platforms, spotlighting a woman who courageously descended into a 50-foot-deep well filled with rainwater to rescue a helpless cat. The woman, identified as Rajani Shetty, is a well-known animal rescuer and has gained widespread appreciation for her courageous and compassionate act.

Rajani, who hails from Mangaluru, manages an Instagram page where her bio reads: “Animal Rescue Service. Feed Animal. Save Animal. Trust Animal. Rescuer and daily feeder of nearly 700 dogs.” Her life revolves around caring for stray animals and offering them a second chance.

The post described how Rajani received a distress call from a woman named Akshata, informing her about a cat trapped in a well filled due to the monsoon rains. Undeterred by the danger, Rajani, along with her husband’s support, bravely climbed down to rescue the frightened feline.

The cat had reportedly been clinging to the inner wall of the well, terrified and soaked. Thanks to Rajani’s swift response, the cat was safely retrieved, earning her applause from both her local community and the internet at large.

This wasn’t Rajani’s first heroic deed—she’s carried out numerous rescues in the past. To her, every animal saved is a life valued. Her ongoing efforts reflect not only empathy but also a rare commitment to voiceless lives.
