Mangaluru: The Federation of World Bunts’ Associations distributed scholarships totaling Rs 1 crore to 1,312 students on Monday. The event also featured the felicitation of Dakshina Kannada MP-elect Capt Brijesh Chowta and Udupi-Chikmagaluru MP-elect Kota Shrinivas Poojary.
Capt Chowta emphasized his dedication to the district’s development, highlighting the importance of benefiting from both Union and state government schemes. “I’m committed to taking Dakshina Kannada district on the path of development,” he said. MP-elect Poojary pledged to address the Bunts community’s demands, including their inclusion in the central reservation list. He praised the community’s entrepreneurial spirit, attributing their success to hard work.
Additionally, businessman and MRG Group chairman K Prakash Shetty, who received an honorary doctorate from Mangalore University, was honored at the event. Federation president Aikala Harish Shetty noted that the organization has consistently supported the underprivileged through various welfare programs, made possible by generous donors.
