A fire broke out at Authentic Ocean Treasures, an industrial unit in Surathkal, on Sunday, July 14, causing extensive damage. Fish products valued at Rs 10 crore were destroyed in the blaze. The incident occurred during repair work in the company’s cold storage and cutting sections. Fortunately, no employees were present at the time, preventing any loss of life, as confirmed by a source from Authentic Ocean Treasures.

The fire reportedly started accidentally in the cold storage section during the repair activities. The flames spread rapidly, causing significant damage to the fish products stored there. Fire brigade vehicles from the industrial area, including those from MRPL and GAIL India, responded quickly to the scene and are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire.

Authentic Ocean Treasures specializes in processing fish, cleaning, cutting them into portions, and packaging them into 10 kg packets for export. The company is now facing a substantial loss due to this fire accident, impacting its operations and supply chain.

This incident highlights the importance of stringent safety measures and protocols during repair work, especially in sensitive areas like cold storage units. Authorities will likely investigate the cause of the fire to prevent similar incidents in the future.
