Mangaluru: Five persons, including a four-year-old child, were injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary tipper truck at Mairakatte in Perne near Uppinangady on July 28. The victims were travelling from Farangipete towards Uppinangady when the accident occurred.
The injured were shifted for medical treatment, while the Puttur Traffic Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident.
Five occupants sustain injuries
The injured have been identified as Mohammed Farooq (31), who was driving the car, and passengers Fatimath Tappiya (25), Zulaikha (52), Mohammed Afghaan (15) and Mohammed Ildan (4).
According to police, all the occupants are residents of Farangipete and were travelling towards Uppinangady at the time of the accident.
Fortunately, despite the impact of the collision, all five occupants survived the crash and received medical attention for their injuries.
Car hits stationary tipper truck
According to preliminary information, a tipper truck had been parked on the roadside at Mairakatte in Perne when the accident took place.
The car, which was approaching from behind, reportedly collided with the rear of the stationary vehicle. The impact caused extensive damage to the front portion of the car and left all five occupants injured.
The exact circumstances leading to the collision are being examined as part of the police investigation.
Police register case
Following the accident, the injured were provided medical treatment and the incident was reported to the authorities.
The Puttur Traffic Police have registered a case in connection with the accident and have begun further proceedings to ascertain the cause of the collision.
Investigators are expected to examine the condition in which the tipper truck was parked, road conditions and other relevant factors before completing the investigation.
Road safety officials continue to urge motorists to exercise caution, particularly while driving on highways and roads where heavy vehicles may be stationary along the roadside.
