Mangaluru: A five-year-old girl named Jasriya was seriously injured after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while waiting for her school bus near the Farangipete mosque in Pudu village, Bantwal taluk, on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 9:15 AM along the Bengaluru–Mangaluru National Highway, as Azmina, the complainant, stood by the roadside with her children and her niece Jasriya. According to the complaint, a motorcycle traveling at high speed from BC Road toward Mangaluru veered sharply to the left and hit Jasriya, who was standing at the edge of the road.
The impact left the young girl with a bleeding head injury. Azmina rushed to help, and with the assistance of a nearby resident, the child was quickly transported to Mangaluru for medical care.
The rider involved in the incident has been identified as Krithik, who is accused of reckless and negligent driving. A case has been registered at the Bantwal Traffic Police Station under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and locals have raised concerns about speeding and road safety in the area, especially near school pickup zones.
