Mangaluru’s celebration scene is grooving to a fresh vibe — the infectious energy of Goan bands. From intimate family gatherings to high-profile charity events and large ticketed parties, these bands are becoming the heart and soul of city events.
Names like A26, Black IN White Band, True Blue, Double R, Mark Revlon, Raagas2Riches, and Uzo Band have frequently lit up stages in the coastal city. Their versatile performances, spanning genres and languages, particularly resonate with Mangaluru’s Konkani Catholic cultural roots.
Event hosts and attendees praise these bands for their dynamic stage presence, rich vocal talent, and live Bollywood covers — a rare skill among many performers. Their ability to adapt to diverse audiences makes them a top pick across event types, including weddings, roce ceremonies, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Mark Fernandes of Stonebridge Entertainment, who initiated this musical shift in 2019, attributes the Goan bands’ popularity to their refined song selections, energetic delivery, and professional sound quality. “They don’t limit themselves to a single genre and can engage the audience with ease,” he shared.
While Goa-to-Mangaluru bookings are soaring, the reverse trend is still catching up. A few Mangalurean bands are gradually making appearances in Goa and Bengaluru, signaling hope for a more balanced cultural exchange.
With over 20 Goan bands waiting to perform in Mangaluru, this music connection only seems to be growing stronger — one beat at a time.
