Mangaluru: In a heartfelt tribute to environmental champions, the city hosted ‘Amara’, a felicitation ceremony at the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), celebrating individuals and organizations driving Mangaluru’s tree planting mission.
Presiding as chief guest, renowned environmentalist and landscaper Revathi Kamath applauded the honorees’ unwavering dedication to ecological restoration, especially the rejuvenation of local lake ecosystems. Dignitaries including Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr G Santhosh Kumar, KAS, Ashwini Muhilan, and RJ Nayana lent their presence to the event, amplifying its significance.
Environmental stalwarts Jeeth Milan Roche, Ashwini K Bhat, and Kishore Attavar were recognized for their relentless efforts. The Rotary Club of Mangalore was honored through its president Ganesh Kodlamogaru, ex-president Madhav Suvarna, and Zone 3 assistant governor Dr Ranjan R K. Corporate participation was acknowledged with Dilesh and Veenadhari K of Incture Technologies receiving accolades.
Academic contributors also took the spotlight, including Dr Steevan D’Souza (AIMIT College), Prof Shripriya (Dr M V Shetty Institute), and NSS volunteers from Swastika National Business School.
Hosted by Vijay Moras and Prof Dr Smitha Hegde, the event marked the success of local greening drives with a total of 7,912 saplings and woody shrubs planted. Organizers hailed the unified community effort to combat climate change, restore biodiversity, and create a sustainable legacy.
The programme concluded with a renewed community pledge to deepen environmental action across the city.
