Students from Gundya traveling to schools and colleges in Uppinangady and Subrahmanya were left stranded as KSRTC buses failed to operate for two consecutive days, forcing many to seek alternative transportation. With the absence of these essential services on Monday and Tuesday, some students managed to reach their destinations using private buses and vehicles, while younger children, unable to arrange transport, had to miss school.

KSRTC buses play a vital role for the Gundya community, with key morning routes from Subrahmanya to Uppinangady, making stops that accommodate student schedules. Without notice, these buses ceased operations, causing inconvenience to both students and residents. Locals expressed frustration, noting the lack of communication from KSRTC regarding the suspension.

Ammalingaiah B Hosapoojar, divisional controller for KSRTC’s Puttur division, explained that most staff were on leave for Deepavali, while the remaining workforce was allocated to routes near Dharmasthala to manage the holiday rush. He assured that bus services to Gundya would resume as usual from Wednesday onwards.
