Hindu Leader Booked for Provocative Speech at Puttur Event

A criminal case has been filed against Bharat Kumail, a leader of a Hindu organization, for allegedly delivering a hate-filled communal speech. The incident took place on May 5, 2025, during a public gathering at Jain Bhavan, located on Bypass Road in Puttur Kasaba village, Nanje, Puttur taluk.

Authorities state that the speech potentially threatened communal harmony and could disrupt public order. In response, the Puttur City Police registered a case under Section 196 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Law enforcement has confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently in progress to determine the full context and implications of the remarks.
