Mangaluru: Government and private hospitals have been directed to report admissions of road accident victims to the Electronic Detailed Accident Report (eDAR) portal within 24 to 48 hours to enable beneficiaries to avail cashless treatment under the Prime Minister–Road Accident Victims Hospitalization and Assured Treatment (PM-RAHAT) scheme.
Addressing a PM-RAHAT awareness workshop held at the RAPCC auditorium in Mangaluru on Wednesday, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. H.R. Thimmaiah stressed the importance of timely reporting to ensure eligible patients receive the scheme’s benefits without delay.
Cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh
Dr. Thimmaiah said the PM-RAHAT scheme provides cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh for road accident victims. The financial assistance covers medical expenses incurred during the first seven days from the date of the accident, helping reduce the burden on patients and their families during emergencies.
He emphasised that hospitals must upload the required details on the eDAR portal within the stipulated time to facilitate prompt processing of claims and uninterrupted treatment.
Awareness programme for hospitals
The workshop was organised to create awareness among healthcare providers about the implementation of the PM-RAHAT scheme and the role of hospitals in ensuring its effective execution.
Officials urged both government and private healthcare institutions to strictly adhere to the reporting timelines so that accident victims can receive immediate medical care without financial constraints.
The initiative aims to strengthen emergency healthcare services while ensuring that eligible patients benefit from the Centre’s cashless treatment programme.
