The SSLC examination performance in Mangaluru has seen a notable improvement, particularly in schools dominated by the minority community. This academic year (2023-24) marks a significant milestone due to the collaborative efforts of officials, religious leaders, and educational associations dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes in these regions.

In the Mangaluru South, North, and Bantwal block education office jurisdictions, areas with substantial minority student populations have shown remarkable progress. The initiative to boost SSLC results among minority students began with community leaders encouraging a strong focus on education. Of the 10,262 students from the 2B category who appeared for the exam, 8,940 passed, resulting in an 87.1% pass rate, a significant improvement from previous years.

At Mangaluru North BEO, 1,464 students appeared for the exam, with a 94.4% pass rate compared to 87.1% last year. James Cutinho, BEO of the North, attributed this 7% improvement to the yearlong efforts of officials and associations.

In Mangaluru South, HR Eshwara, BEO, highlighted that the 2B category results improved from 54% to 75% this year due to mass coaching programs organized in collaboration with various associations. Similarly, in Bantwal, MG Manjunath, BEO, reported that 19 out of 47 high schools scoring 100% results are minority-dominated, thanks to special classes and initiatives funded by organizations like the Talent Research Foundation.

Moosabba Beary Jokatte, president of the Muslim Educational Institutions Federation (MEIF), noted that their initiatives, previously concentrated in Mangaluru and Bantwal, have now extended from Sullia to Byndoor, reaching numerous students through 10 educational camps.
