Kadaba: A candidate appearing for the Karnataka Police Constable (Civil) Recruitment-2026 has been accused of producing fake documents while attempting to participate in the physical endurance and physical efficiency tests at Mangala Stadium in Mangaluru on September 28.

The incident came to light when officials at the registration desk checked the candidate’s credentials against the list of eligible candidates using the software provided by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

According to the complaint, Yajesh B J Rai, son of Jayachandra Rai and a resident of Kodimbala in Kadaba taluk, arrived at the registration desk carrying a call letter bearing hall ticket number CPC5225446.

Candidate’s details not found in recruitment records

At the registration desk, personnel on duty, CPC-446 Mahadev and HC-46 Purnesh, verified the candidate’s details through the software provided for the recruitment process.

However, the candidate’s details could not be found in the list of eligible candidates.

Officials also checked the relevant recruitment records and found that the candidate’s name, registration number and application number were absent from the 1:5 list prepared for the Karnataka Police Constable (Civil) Recruitment-2026.

The 1:5 list is used in the recruitment process to identify candidates called for the physical endurance and physical efficiency tests.

As the candidate’s details were not available in the authorised records, officials did not permit him to participate in the physical tests.

Documents found suspicious during scrutiny

The call letter and other documents produced by the candidate were subsequently examined by the officials.

According to the complaint, the documents appeared to be fake during preliminary scrutiny.

The discrepancy between the documents produced by the candidate and the official recruitment records raised concerns among the officials conducting the registration process.

Since the candidate could not be verified as an eligible participant through the recruitment database and his details were also absent from the relevant 1:5 list, he was prevented from proceeding with the physical tests.

The incident was subsequently recorded in the proceedings of the physical endurance and physical efficiency tests conducted at Mangala Stadium on September 28.

Complaint filed seeking legal action

Following the incident, a complaint was filed seeking legal action against Yajesh B J Rai.

The complaint alleges that the candidate created and produced fake documents with the intention of cheating in the police recruitment process.

The allegations relate specifically to the documents presented during registration and the attempt to participate in the recruitment tests despite his details not appearing in the official list of eligible candidates.

The complaint has sought action in accordance with the law over the alleged creation and production of the documents.

Recruitment process under scrutiny

The physical endurance and physical efficiency tests form an important stage of the Karnataka Police Constable (Civil) recruitment process.

Candidates called for the tests are required to establish their eligibility through the prescribed recruitment records and documentation before participating in the physical assessments.

In this case, the registration personnel carried out verification before allowing the candidate to enter the testing process. The verification revealed that the details mentioned in the documents could not be matched with the official records available through the recruitment system.

The candidate was consequently stopped from participating in the tests, and the matter was formally recorded.

The incident highlights the verification process followed at recruitment centres, where candidate details and documents are checked before applicants are permitted to proceed to subsequent stages.

Investigation and legal action underway

The complaint has now been submitted for further investigation and legal action.

The allegations against Yajesh B J Rai are subject to investigation, and the authenticity and origin of the documents produced by him will have to be established through the legal process.

Investigating authorities are expected to examine the documents, recruitment records and circumstances surrounding their production and presentation during the physical tests.

The September 28 proceedings at Mangala Stadium and the complaint filed by the officials will form part of the material available for the investigation.

Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and applicable legal provisions.
