Bengaluru: The total number of positive dengue cases in Karnataka surpassed the 10,000 mark on Tuesday, with the state reporting 10,449 cases and 358 active hospitalizations.

The death toll due to dengue remains at eight. On Tuesday alone, 4,572 blood samples were tested for dengue, resulting in 487 new positive cases, bringing the total number of tested samples to 78,489.

In the past seven months, the highest number of cases have been reported within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits in Bengaluru, with 3,770 cases. This is followed by Chikkamagaluru (621 cases), Mysuru (562 cases), Haveri (508 cases), Dharwad (397 cases), and Chitradurga (350 cases).

Statewide dengue positive cases during the same period last year were significantly lower, standing at 2,850.

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao acknowledged the situation as “naturally concerning” but advised against panic.

“We must continue to ensure that we are implementing the measures needed to reduce the spread of dengue, continue source reduction, increase awareness, and monitor the implementation of the measures as per the guidelines given to all officials,” he stated as per DH news.
