A man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a quarters in Hosangadi near Manjeshwar on Friday night, with police suspecting murder.

Man found dead inside old house

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh (42). His body was found inside an old house belonging to Narasimha Murthy at Hosangadi, with severe injuries to his head.

Other workers who returned to the quarters after completing their day’s labour reportedly found Ramesh lying in a pool of blood. They subsequently informed the police.

Ramesh was reportedly not a permanent resident of the quarters.

Drinking session may have led to fatal assault

A preliminary police investigation has indicated that an altercation during drinking may have preceded the incident. Based on the circumstances and the injuries sustained by Ramesh, police suspect that the death was a result of murder.

Locals reportedly noticed two persons fleeing the spot following the incident. Manjeshwar police have launched an intensive search to trace them.

Post-mortem to reveal exact cause of death

Police said the exact cause of death will be established only after the inquest and post-mortem examination.

The investigation is continuing, with police working to establish the sequence of events and identify those suspected to be involved in the death.
