Various organizations and associations across Karnataka observed International Women’s Day on Saturday, with a series of empowering initiatives aimed at promoting women’s health, sustainability, and leadership.
Mangala Resource Management Pvt Ltd, a key player in rural waste management across Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts, organized a special workshop titled ‘Blossom – Women’s Health, Empowerment, and Sustainability’. This event, attended by over 100 women employees working in rural waste management, focused on eco-friendly menstrual hygiene management and overall health awareness. The workshop featured a training session on the use of menstrual cups, led by Dr. Priya D Alva and Shilpa Shastri from Nitte University. Menstrual cups were distributed free of charge, promoting both women’s health and an environmentally sustainable lifestyle. The initiative received support from local zilla panchayats and was sponsored by rePurpose Global. The program was coordinated by Prajwal Shenoy, with support from Dhanush MS, Vijesh Devadiga, and Nidhi Krishna.
In another milestone, Air India Express celebrated Women’s Day with an all-women crew operating its Mangaluru-Muscat flight. This was part of the airline’s larger initiative to operate 14 all-women crew flights across both domestic and international sectors, symbolizing the airline’s commitment to empowering women in aviation.
Additionally, The Times of India’s Response and Marketing Department took the opportunity to recognize and honor women dealers and vendors for their invaluable contributions. Among the women celebrated were Mohini B Shetty, Rajamma Mangaladevi, and Latha Devadiga.
These events reflect the growing emphasis on women’s empowerment across various sectors, underlining the importance of sustainability, health, and leadership in Karnataka.
