Subrahmanya: A KSRTC bus travelling from Kukke Subrahmanya to Bengaluru was completely gutted after catching fire near Ermayil on the Subrahmanya-Gundya State Highway on Saturday night.
The bus, belonging to the BC Road depot, was heading towards Bengaluru via Hassan when the driver noticed smoke emerging from the vehicle. Acting quickly, he stopped the bus and alerted the passengers about the situation.
All 37 passengers were evacuated from the bus safely before the fire intensified.
Fire rapidly engulfs bus
Shortly after the passengers were evacuated, the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire vehicle. Thick flames reportedly consumed the bus, leaving it completely destroyed.
Local residents and officials rushed to the spot after noticing the fire. Efforts were made to control and extinguish the flames, but the intensity of the fire resulted in the complete destruction of the KSRTC bus.
The timely action by the driver in noticing the smoke and ensuring that all passengers got off the vehicle helped prevent injuries or loss of life.
Cause of fire under investigation
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the blaze and are expected to determine whether it was caused by a mechanical or electrical fault or another reason.
The incident resulted in the loss of the bus, but all 37 passengers travelling on the route were reported safe.
