Moodbidri: Three members of a family sustained burn injuries after an explosion caused by an LPG leak at their rented house near Mijar in Moodbidri on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at around 6.30 am within the limits of Moodbidri Police Station.
The injured have been identified as Shivaram, 31, his wife Ganga, 25, and their six-year-old son Adarsh.
Family injured in morning explosion
According to Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H, Shivaram, who works as a watchman at a private college, suffered serious burn injuries in the incident.
His wife and their six-year-old son also sustained burn injuries in the explosion.
The sudden incident caused concern in the locality as the family was inside the rented house when the explosion occurred.
Injured shifted to hospital
Following the incident, the injured family members were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the LPG leak and the subsequent explosion.
The incident also highlights the importance of checking LPG connections, regulators and gas pipes regularly and ensuring proper ventilation in kitchens and other areas where LPG cylinders are used.
