In a tragic accident, a man lost his life after slipping and falling into a well while cleaning its surrounding wall in Kotekaru Nellithila, near Kalikamba Temple, under Ullal police station limits. The victim, identified as Naveen Belchada, 48, was a resident of a rented house in the area.
The incident occurred around 3:45 pm on Sunday when Naveen was cleaning the wall around the well located behind his house. Reports suggest he accidentally slipped and fell into the well. When Naveen didn’t return to the house, his wife and children became concerned and started searching for him. They eventually discovered the tragic incident near the well.
Local residents rushed to the scene and helped retrieve Naveen, but he was declared dead by the time they got him out. Naveen, a centering contractor by profession, is survived by his wife, a daughter studying in second-year PUC, and a son in the fourth grade.
The Ullal police have registered a case and sent Naveen’s body for a post-mortem examination.
