A fraud case has been registered at Mangalore South Police Station against a man who allegedly tricked two individuals by falsely promising them jobs in the CCTV control room in Mangaluru.
According to the police complaint, the accused, identified as Ahmad Hussain, contacted one of the victims in November 2024, claiming he was employed at the CCTV control room. The two reportedly became acquainted at a gym, where Hussain mentioned there were 17 job openings for roles involving the monitoring of traffic violations via CCTV and issuing notices to offenders.
He assured the complainants that the position came with a monthly salary of ₹38,500. Persuaded by the offer, one victim agreed to recommend his 22-year-old cousin, while his friend decided to refer his wife’s elder brother’s son.
Hussain allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh per candidate, including ₹5,000 for documentation and the rest as a refundable security deposit, which he claimed would be returned after six months of employment. Trusting him, the complainant reportedly paid the entire sum in cash in November, while the second victim paid in two installments.
However, over time, the accused began delaying the recruitment process, citing various reasons. He eventually failed to secure the promised jobs or refund the money, prompting the victims to file a fraud complaint.
The police are actively investigating the matter, and efforts are on to locate the accused.
