In a surprise operation, Mangalore police raided Mangalore Jail in the early hours of July 25, exposing illegal activities within the prison walls. The raid resulted in the seizure of ganja, drugs, mobile phones, and other devices, highlighting the prevalence of contraband items among jail inmates.
The police found 25 mobile phones, a Bluetooth device, five earphones, a pen drive, five chargers, and scissors during the raid. Additionally, marijuana and drug packets were seized from the inmates. The operation was carried out by over 150 policemen who simultaneously stormed the jail at 4 am.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has ordered an investigation into the discovery of drugs and ganja, aiming to uncover the sources and networks behind the illegal activities. The raid has brought to light the need for stricter security measures and vigilance within the prison system.
